Jayne McQuillen

Jayne McQuillen is a trainer, instructor, coach and handler who has 25+ years in the sport of flyball.  Since 2002, Jayne has been leading the training for Skidmarkz Flyball Club.  Skidmarkz has had many notable successes.  Since 2018 they have earned 1st or 2nd place finishes every year at both the CanAm Invitational and U-Fli Division 1 Champs.  They have also made the CanAm Multibreed Invitational in 2021 and 2023.  They have been invited to the Purina Pro Plan Incredible Dog Challenge and the AKC Flyball Invitational (1st place!).

Skidmarkz also proudly has the 1st, 2nd and 6th fastest U-Fli singles dogs of 2023.  Jayne’s dog Wire broke the U-Fli singles record in 2023 with a blistering 3.386.

While the speediest Skidmarkz dogs get all the attention, the club works to bring out the best in every dog, regardless of speed.  Jayne strives to respect what each dog brings to the table emotionally, mentally and physically, then helps them shine!  Jayne has trialed in agility, herding, disc, and even dabbled in protection sports.  She has sought out diverse methods of positive training to bring to the sport of flyball.  That coupled with years working with rescue dogs, reactive, shy, quirky, weird, hyper and even some “normal” dogs has made Skidmarkz a team where even challenging dogs can be successful.

With around 60 dogs on the Skidmarkz club and often running 6 to 7 teams at a tournament, Skidz has to have lots of teamwork and organization.  Jayne believes the fundamental foundation skills of MYOB are the key to getting more out of practices, warm up times and even while racing.  Most importantly, if a dog can confidentally MYOB, they can focus on the fun of playing flyball & give their fastest effort in the ring!
